Allan H Says...
It used to be easy to describe myself. I was very sure of who I was and where I was going. Funny thing is, LIFE happened while I was making other plans and now I'm here...a place I never expected to be at a time in my life I never expected to be alone. This isn't a lament . That's all been done and done away with. It took a while but through the grace of God, good friends , and my son, I am here... tanned, rested, and ready! ! In one way, I'm looking to regain the emotional foundation one gains from having a dedicated and loving partner for life. That's what I miss most about being married. The feeling of being so much a part of another and having them so much a part of of you that there is no separation, no "her", just "us" and us forever. So much is possible when one has this as the underpinning of their lives. I call it the "unfettered mind". Trouble and gloom may come along, as I have certainly experienced, but when we're together, these trials aren't an overwhelming experience.
Music
I've been a musician since the 7th grade. So that I'm clear - that doesn't equate directly with my skills as a musician but I can get around. You better love Bass!! When I say I can take just about anything, it's true...Jazz , Rock, Country, Classical , World, Devotional, Praise and all of their sub-genres. Anything that is but rap/hiphop! Favorite bands are The Dixie Dregs, Pink Floyd, Santana, SuperTramp, Allman Brothers, Sea Level , etc. Favorite musicians are Jaco Pastorius, Steve Morse, David Gilmore, Greg Allman, Amy Lee, Ian Anderson, Samuel Barber, and on and on. I will never miss a Cirque du Soleil show if one is where I can get to it. And I've become a fan of the Australian Pink Floyd Show and their yearly visit to ATL.
Movies
I'm the kind that it's hard to get to sit down for a movie but once I do, I usually enjoy it. Faves are "Cool Hand Luke" "Always" (pure chick flic but I can't help it) "Ferris Buellers Day Off" "The Chronicles of Riddick Bowe" "Animal House" "Johnny Tiger" ( interesting story why)
My Best Features
For a physical feature it might be my cleft chin and dimples, at least that seems to get called out pretty often. Do eyes like Omar Sharif qualify as a "best" feature? LOL!
What I'm Into
I'm an inveterate tinkerer and inventor...I've built and driven two racecars with limited success but it was an absolute blast. I currently build electric bass guitars and, until my wife's passing, was building a good following. But now, I'm still waiting for the creative muse to return. You can see examples here: http:// home.mindspring.com/~ adhamilton I'm a professional graphic and industrial designer and have been doing what I love for nearly 28 years now. This after my first two "careers" - Commercial food service and professional musician. I love to travel and have seen a lot, but not enough , of this great country of ours. I also love vegging on the couch with "Deadliest Catch", "Pinks" , or "Antiques Roadshow" and good bagels in the morning - imagine a southern boy like me loving a good bagel? And I'm still searching for the ultimate crab bisque.
My Dreams
Aside from wanting to live out my life with a woman that I'm absolutely crazy about, I want to build my instruments into something of a legacy. I also think I've got another race car in me somewhere...maybe a retro digger.
If you're still reading...
and you have more questions than before, please click to the blogs I've written over the last 18 months called "Zig Zagging Through Ghostland" here: http://360.yahoo. com/hambonebasses The name was stolen from a New Orleans Radiator's song and album by the same name with the only connection being that the name is very appropriate to the way I've lived my life recently. You'll see.
Books
I'm not much for recreational reading...My latest reads were "A Grief Remembered" by CS Lewis and "The Loving Dominant" by Dr. John Warren Ph.D.
Sports
The thing about me is watching most sports on TV is an absolute bore...I was competitive at most of them when I was younger - football, baseball, golf, tennis, diving, swimming, and bowling. I'm a former Florida State Junior Doubles Champion in bowling. I love college football - Go Noles!. Only a few more days before our season starts!!
Interests
Where to begin...and worse , where to stop!! history, archeology, antiques, WWII, Civil War, travel, high performance and custom cars, racing, fishing, graphic design, D /s relationships, cooking,

Dazed and confused, being a typical blonde as usual...lol...but thank you for inviting me!  I've made some very interesting discoveries here.  Might take me some time along with your help in navigating in order to make this experience a *fruitful* one.

Under a Buttermilk Sky

Sep 1, 2008, 2:23 pm

...the atmosphere had the smell of the past, the melancholy air of trunks in attics, and boxes in basements, and dreams put on hold. The memories swirled around me with the breeze. They courted me to give in to regret and sweet-talked my tears to appear. - Allan
