Torrence Hatch - more widely known by his stage name, Lil’ Boosie - is a rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Boosie spent most of his childhood living in the notorious South Side of Baton Rouge; though a skilled basketball player and a decent student, Boosie dropped out of school and began to turn to drugs and crime to support himself after the death of his father. He began to experiment with rap on the side, mentored by fellow Louisiana rappers B.G. and C-Loc. After spitting a few hot bars on C-Loc’s legendary fifth album It’s A Gamble, Boosie’s fame began to spread outside the confines of Baton Rouge’s 225 area code. After a brief run-in with the law in 2002 Boosie was bailed out of jail by UGK’s Pimp C, who signed the talented rapper to his up-and-coming Trill Entertainment label, home to fellow Baton Rouge rapper Webbie.
